Does ShopSmart see my photos?
No. The scanner runs on your phone and shelf photos are deleted once you’ve checked the list. Only the list of what’s in your fridge and your rescue record are saved to your account. Privacy policy
Why does the first scan need a 440 MB download?
That’s the scanner itself. It lives on your phone so your photos never have to leave it, and so scanning works without a connection. It downloads once, and ShopSmart checks you’re on Wi-Fi first.
It got something wrong. How do I fix it?
After a scan you check the list before anything is saved. Tap any item to rename it, change the amount or the expiry date, or remove it. Anything it missed, add by hand. You can fix items later in the Fridge tab too.
How does it know when things go off?
It estimates from what each item is and how long that usually keeps in a fridge. It’s a guess, so trust your nose and fix the date if you know better.
How is “$ saved” worked out?
When you cook something that was about to go off, ShopSmart adds what those ingredients would cost at an Australian supermarket. It’s an estimate, not your receipt.
Does it work without internet?
Yes, once you’ve signed in and the scanner has downloaded. Scanning, the menu and cook mode all work offline. Changes sync when you’re back online.
Can I use it on two phones?
Yes. Sign in with the same Apple or Google account and your fridge and rescue record appear on both.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, tap your initial at the top, then Delete account. No longer have the app? Delete it from here.
